After graduating from Notre Dame in ‘64, I attended Calif. State University, Northridge, then called Valley State College. I graduated in 1969 with a BS in Biology. Due to pressures of the Viet Nam war, I went into the Navy for a two year commitment where I did two tours on a supply ship in the war zone. Thankfully the most dangerous action I saw was going on liberty in the Phillippeans. After getting out, I got licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist and went to work in hospital laboratories for a while. I moved down to So. Orange County in Capistrano Beach in 1975 where I met my wife, Kathy. A year or so after our marriage, we decided to take a few years off work and went sailing on our 38 foot sailboat. For the next two and a half years we sailed down the coast of Mexico and Central America, transited the Panama Canal and made a clockwise turn through the Caribbean. After returning from that trip, we had our two children, Dana and Mike, and I got a Masters in Hospital Administration from La Vern University. From there I went on to a position in the Administration at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center, the South Orange County trauma center located in Mission Viejo. After working 25 years at Mission Hospital, I retired in Oct. 2007. A few years ago we bought beach front property in Mexico near a town called Loreto right on the Sea of Cortez. We are now building a retirement home there and will be moving down there in April 2008. I highly recommend retirement and my wife and I are looking forward to a slower life filled with fishing, diving, off-road exploring and traveling. BTW, we will have plenty of extra room for any ND alums who might want to visit.

My fondest memory of Notre Dame was always playing baseball and racing cars and the good friends that went along with those activities. Hobbies: Off-road motorcycles, fishing, camping and cars. (a little golf now and then) |
