Being in grade school and high school was a very difficult time for me. I had four siblings and was required to go home immediately after school to help my mother, who worked nights, by taking care of dinner, giving my very young sisters and brother a bath and get them ready for bed. I did not have time for homework or good grades. After high school I went to work and then got married at 21. I divorced at 31 for reasons I will not mention. At 31, I joined the Army and served for 42 months. I began college at the age of 53, received a BA and made the National Deans List and graduated with Departmental Honors. I am currently finishing my Masters in Public Administration. I have been raising my Goddaughter Megan. She is more than that; she is my daughter. My oldest son is in Iraq and has been for the last 4 years. His wife is in Germany and coming home January 2008. My youngest son gave me a granddaughter. I cannot complain; my life is good even though I am alone. I loved someone once, but we never married or saw each other again. |
