The Bakers

After leaving St Patrick's, I attended Bellarmine Jefferson High School, graduating in 1964.  Not many of my grade school friends who began there with me, actually stayed for four years except for a few who were later my bridesmaids (Loretta Lamas and Betty & Linda Agatiello) when Frank and I were married in November of 1964.  I was 18 years old (+ 1 week); Frank was 22.

Our first child, Matthew, followed 9 months after we were married & three years later we had our second child, Dwayne. Three years after that we had our daughter, Denise.  Our fourth daughter. Melissa, followed much later (16 years) when we took her into our home as our foster daughter and later adopted her.  Throughout our marriage, I have had one career in the legal field.  I began as a legal secretary and later as a paralegal.  My husband Frank is a retired plumbing contractor.  Our son Matthew has four children: James (16), Maya (13), Rebecca (8) and Chista (5).  Dwayne has three children: Hayden, Gillian and Myles, age 7. Denise has two children, Tyler (8) and Kylee (4).  Melissa has one child, Brennen (13).

I am considering retirement next year, although I still think I have a few good years left in me and may continue working for a while longer.   I like my job and my boss (who I have worked for the past 27 years).

Favorite memories of St. Patrick’s:  Younger years:  First day of school, First Communion, Halloween when we used to be able to dress up in costumes.  Later years, choir practice and singing in the choir.  I am particularly fond of the recollection that I was told I was not going to be able to participate in graduation because I streaked my hair with peroxide the last week of school; I pacified the nuns by using that “colored” hairspray (that was advertised at the time for covering up gray hair or filling in bald spots) to cover the streaks.

Hobbies:  Heck, I’m still working so have no real hobbies other than camping with Frank and our family, and traveling to exotic places with Frank whenever we can.  I love being with my children and grandchildren, all of whom live within 14 miles of us.  Christmas is my favorite time of year.
