DOCTOR | Retired | The Truth About Medicine |
Bob
Fitzgerald graduated Notre Dame High School in 1964 and then from Stanford
University. He received his M.D. from UCLA School of Medicine and his
postgraduate training in Internal Medicine from Harbor General Hospital,
Torrance, CA. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine and a Fellow of
the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). He has practiced full
time emergency medicine as both a clinician and director since 1976 in
settings ranging from urban Level I Trauma Centers to rural community
hospitals. In 2008, Dr. Fitzgerald authored the White Paper on “The Future of Geriatric Emergency Care” for ACEP. He has written and lectured extensively on geriatric health issues, especially the integration of medical care configurations, quality benchmarks, and finances. Recently he has been involved in strategic planning and the management aspects of public health systems. He recently retired from from clinical practice and is now focusing on consulting on emergency room hospital design and quality issues of medical tourism. I decided to start a medical blog inspired to some extent by all the misinformation and half-truths passing for a discussion on how to reform healthcare. It focuses on telling the truth and is directed to us "baby Boomers". Dr. Bob's blog on Healthcare. |
