After graduating from Notre Dame high school, I
received undergraduate and graduate degrees in economics and engineering
from Stanford University which I attended on athletic and academic
scholarships. I taught at Stanford for a while and then ended up in
the Nixon administration as an economist in the Department of Health,
Education and Welfare and then served in the Ford White House as a special
assistant for domestic policy to Vice President Nelson Rockefeller. After the Nixon/Ford years, I started a consulting firm called Sage Associates which eventually merged with Coopers and Lybrand which then merged again to become Price Waterhouse Coopers Consulting in Washington DC. As a Managing partner, I oversaw a team of 3500 consultants and a business of $1.2 billion. The business provided strategy consulting, operations consulting, technology development and implementation, software support, and outsourcing services to government agencies and large corporations. Eventually I, along with several partners, led the acquisition by IBM of PWC Consulting. Following the integration of my business unit into IBM, I semi-retired and we bought a second home in Half Moon Bay, California to be close to our children who are attending Stanford University. So, today we split our time between the right & left coast. I enjoy riding my motorcycle, sailing, fishing. golfing and authoring books on economics and spiritualism. |
