After leaving St Patrick's, I attended Providence HS, then graduated from UCLA in March, 1969, after spending a year at the University of Padua, Italy. Not long after graduation, I met Bucky and we were married in 1970. I worked at IRS as a tax auditor for three years, then quit to go to graduate school, and received my MLS from UCLA in 1974. We then moved to Anchorage, Alaska, for six months where Bucky had an internship with the Alaska Public Defender. When we returned to California, I worked at LA Central Library briefly until Francesca was born. Bucky’s first assignment as an Army JAG was at Ft. Lewis, Washington, where Alexander was born. In 1978 the army moved us to Northern Virginia, near Washington, DC, where we have lived ever since.

Once the kids were in school, I worked as a preschool assistant for 4+ years, then was a reference librarian for Fairfax County (VA) Public Library from 1988 until I retired at the end of 2004. Bucky is retired from the federal government, and we provide before- and after-school child care for our two granddaughters. I also volunteer once a week at the library where I last worked.

Besides my family, my main interest is Italy and the Italian language, in which I have been struggling to become fluent for forty years. I have been taking an Italian class since 1997. It was meant to be a quick refresher, but has turned into more of a club, as some of us students and the teacher have been together for most of that time. I would go to Italy every year if I could. Last summer, during our latest trip to Italy, we visited cousins I hadn’t seen since 1989. They still live in the town my mother’s parents left over 100 years ago.

Hobbies:  Reading, gardening, Italy and all things Italian

Favorite memories of St. Patrick’s:  Friends, Mother Regis (ha!)
